Fajrfest honors 6 cineastes during opening ceremony

The 37th Fajr Film Festival honors 6 Iranian cineastes during the opening ceremony.

The 37th edition of the Fajr Film Festival has paid tribute to six well-known Iranian cineastes during the opening ceremony.

Iranian director Azizollah Hamidnejad, poster and graphic designer Ebrahim Haqiqi, actress Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, film editor Abbas Ganjavi, voice actor Khosro Khosroshahi, and late actor Ezzatollah Entezami were honored during the opening ceremony.

Hamidnejad who directed ‘Hoor at Fire’ said he has made his works with love and appreciated the critics who have supported his ‘Hoor at Fire’.

Haqiqi who has designed a number of Fajrfest posters was honored too. Haqiqi is the designer of Simorgh poster and accolade as well.

Motamed-Arya who has appeared in a number of ifilm series and movies such as ‘The Chef’, ‘The Wrong Guy’, ‘The pastry Girl’ and ‘Spouse’ was honored too.

Iranian great director Masoud Kimiaee was one of the speakers who admired Ganjavi for his great works.

Khosroshahi who was celebrated in the ceremony has performed voice-over for Al Pacino and Alain Delon in a number of films.

The late actor Entezami was honored too.

Festival chairman Ebrahim Daroughehzadeh, director of the Cinema Organization of Iran Hossein Entezami, and Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed-Abbas Salehi were in attendance too.

In the ceremony, Crystal Simorgh awards were given to winners for Best Film Photo, Best Poster Design, and Best Trailer.

Founded in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival is an annual event held on the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, celebrating Iranian cinema.

Over the years, the event has played a key role in the development of the Iranian film industry.

This year’s festival will be held on January 30-February 11, 2019, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
